By far the BEST books for learning to draw that I have seen. Even if you can't draw, you can teach from these practical and VERY easy-to-use books while learning with your children. I did it!Homeschoolers' Comments
This small book gives step by step instructions for learning what he calls the Seven Principles of Drawing (surface, size, surface lines, overlapping, sahding, density, and foeshortening) along with poitions and alignment. There are 37 lessons and 222 drawings which he illustrates and explains.
I am using this so that I can help my 5yo daughter who wants to learn to draw very badly. I work through the lessons myself and then show her what I’ve learned. An older child would be able to do this on their own.
This has been a goldmine for me because I was totally lost as to how to draw anything more than stick figures. We now draw our way through the Sunday service, copy pictures from books, make nature drawings from our outdoor “finds”, and just have a lot of fun drawing. The only requirements are the text, a lot of paper, and a pencil. This is an affordable way to begin developing drawing skills.
