Three years ago I ordered the Wordsmith Craftsman for my oldest, extremely reluctant, poor writer who would challenge everything I critiqued. Wordsmith Craftsman was a self directed course that I thought would give him a chance to examine his work as he proceeded through the course.
He finished the course after two years and is currently a homeschooled senior taking college courses at an accredited, well known university. The night before his final exam he told us he felt he hadn't learned anything that semester, he had merely expanded on what he had learned in Wordsmith

"I have to tell you what a fabulous product Wordsmith Apprentice is. My 5th grade daughter had been a slow bloomer in the "writing and language arts" department. We tried nearly everything out there, then we tried Wordsmith Apprentice. Contrary to my previous thought - Wordsmith Apprentice isn't "just" a creative writing course. It comes closer to being a whole language arts program, covering parts of speech and technical writing mechanics, as well as "creative" projects - all within the "framework" of a Newspaper.
